Press Release

Country & Town endow a chair in the Hallé Youth Orchestra

- 1 October 2009

Country & Town’s interest in supporting educational initiatives for young people developed today with the announcement of a chair endowment for the Hallé Youth Orchestra.

“We are very pleased to support the Hallé Youth Orchestra and I look forward to seeing them perform whenever I can,” said Country & Town’s Chris Tomlinson.

Chair Endowments are a satisfying way of contributing to the development of an orchestra. Monies raised in this way are channeled directly to the Orchestra and enable a company or an individual to take a closer interest in ongoing activities and performances.

The Hallé Youth Orchestra, founded in September 2002, is a symphony orchestra for talented young musicians across the region who do not benefit from the musical opportunities provided by full-time specialist music education. It offers a unique opportunity to local young instrumentalists, under the age of 19, to experience the challenge and satisfaction of rehearsing and performing classical music to a very high standard. The works it prepares draw on the same rich variety of repertoire - from classical and romantic to scores of today - that is performed by professional orchestras.

“We are keen to participate in community projects where time and resources allow,” said Chris Tomlinson of Country & Town. “We aim to participate in one new initiative every six months and would be pleased to receive requests from educational organisations in Manchester and Cheshire.”
